New Delhi : The Delhi Police have arrested eight people in connection with a daring broad-daylight shootout in which a 30-year-old man was killed while his friend was left injured, a senior police official said on Sunday.
Surender was killed while Sandeep, 32, who is still undergoing treatment, received bullet injuries in the shootout that occurred on March 9 at Lado Sarai in South Delhi’s Mehrauli.
Neeraj, 31, Arvind Kumar Gupta, 30, Karanjit, 22, Ravinder Pawar, 24, Kamal, 30, Jagmohan Sagar, 30, Dhrup, 28, and Kartik, 30 — all miscreants involved in various criminal cases — were arrested from different locations in Delhi and neighbouring states.
The police, who are still hunting for Rohit, claimed to have solved the case with the arrest of these eight people.
“Inquiries revealed that the assailants and the victims were known to each other and had a long pending monetary dispute,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Prem Nath said.
Officials probing the case said the criminals had taken shelter in nearby states — Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan — after committing the crime.
