Youth workshop on capacity building & minority rights

New Delhi: Participants from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Delhi took part in a four days youth workshop on capacity building (focusing on education, career and health) and on minority rights that was organised here.

The workshop was held between March 13 and 16 jointly by Khudai Khidmatgar, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti and EFFORT, a statement said here.

The inaugural session of the workshop – that began on March 13 at Tagore Hall, Rajghat, at Gandhi Darshan – was chaired by Professor V K Tripathy, a retired professor of IIT Delhi and a civil rights activist. The keynote address was delivered by Musthafa Muhammed, director, EFFORT.

Khudai Khidmatgar leader Mohammad Faiza and social entrepreneur Manu Singh, among others, also participated in the discussion.

In the second session of the day a discussion on Right to Information was led by Dr Gulam Rasool, secretary of J&K RTI Movement.

There were separate sessions on education, Constitutional rights, empowering women in rural areas, health and hygiene, role of youth in building a peaceful society, etc. Films ‘Gandhi’ and ‘I am Kalam’ were also screened in the evening on March 14 and 15. Rally post and cleaning the campus were also conducted to make youth aware.

Advocate Tahmina Laskar Anjum Aamir Khan, Faisal Khan, Inamul Hasan, Dr Jaskaran Singh Saini and Dr Manimala, among others also participated in the workshop and shared their insights.
