PM doing poetry on Kashmir, says Ghulam Nabi Azad

New Delhi : Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat remark that “ekta” (unity) and “mamta” (compassion) are the key words to deal with Kashmir situation, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday said the Prime Minister is just doing poetry.

“Of late, he was talking of Insaniyat, Jamhooriyat and Kashmiriyat. Now he has come up with ekta and mamta. This is poetry,” Azad said.

“Perhaps he (Modi) knows that people of Kashmir love poetry,” he said in a lighter vein.

Modi, in his monthly Mann Ki Baat address on Sunday, had said that unity and compassion were the two words that recurred during his discussions with various political parties on the issue of Kashmir.

However, Azad added, the situation in the Valley can’t be tackled through poetry or attractive words.

“Kashmiris love poetry, and know poetry only too well. So nobody can fool them by using poetic expressions,” he said.
