Kolkata : Jadavpur University Vice Chancellor Suranjas Das on Saturday demanded police respond to their complaint against outsiders, including three ABVP activists, for allegedly molesting female students during a commotion over an open-air screening of Vivek Agnihotri’s film “Buddha In A Traffic Jam”.
Das also said Governor K.N. Tripathi has sought a report over the incident.
“We hope police take appropriate action according to the law. I expect an answer from them. I would like to know what happens after the FIR,” Das told the media.
The varsity authorities on Friday filed a police complaint against four outsiders – three of them ABVP activists.
The campus was on the boil over the screening of the movie that faced loud protests from a large section of left-leaning students loyal to FETSU and sparked clashes.
“The governor has sought a report and I will send it,” Das said, blaming the JU alumni association for giving permission to the organisers to use the Triguna Sen Auditorium and then cancelling it.
