Rohit Sardana tweeted about Malayalam movie ‘S Durga’ – originally named ‘Sexy Durga’ – and asked that why should people name films like Sexy Durga or Sexy Radha? “Have you ever heard films named like Sexy Fatima, Sexy Aisha or Sexy Mary?” said Sardana in his controversial tweet further.

In their protest meet, Ulemas demanded for the immediate arrest of Rohit Sardana for his controversial remarks over Hazrat Fatima, daughter of Prophet, his wife Hazrat Aisha and Mary, the mother of Jesus. Ulemas showed their concern that if Sardana will not be arrested immediately, he may lash his remarks on other religions of the country as well.

Maulana Nadeem Asghar, teacher at Jawwadiya Arabi College, said, “Sardana made such remarks in the country where Hindus, Muslims and Christians are considered as siblings. Government should arrest Sardana immediately because he is no different than a terrorist. He is instigating communal hatred in the society with his remarks.”

Maulana Shabib, a teaching staff at Imania Arabi College, demanded government to take Zee News off-air. He said, “Sardana has made remarks against esteemed personalities of our religion, and we can never expect that. He should be arrested, and government should take the channel off air for spreading communal hatred.”

The protest rally was filled with the people holding placards and signboards for demanding arrest of Sardana. However, the protest did not go down well with the Hindu hardliners of the city. Krishna Chandra Tripathi, an advocate at Varanasi’s district court, met SSP of the city today to demand arrest of Maulana Nadeem Asghar and Maulana Shabib. Tripathi cited that the organisers of the event violated the section-144, which is in effect in the city.

Controversy, lawsuit and protest after Sardana’s remarks is not new. Prior to this, Sardana has been booked by Hyderabad police under section 295 (A) after a protest by a Shia body.
