Curfew eased for Friday prayers in Kashmir

Curfew has been eased for Friday prayers in Kashmir but the people are not allowed to pray in large mosques in congregations. they can only offer the namaz in the mosques in their local area and not venture beyond.

Kashmir has been in lockdown from Monday with tight security with nearly 70000 military personnel heavily guarding the place ensuring that the curfew imposed on the citizens of Kashmir is in place. All internet and telephone services have also been denied to the people of Kashmir while their leaders are under arrest with heavy security outside their homes.

This shocking move by the BJP government has been heavily criticised by opposition parties for the very undemocratic process in a country that boasts of being the largest democracy in the world.

People of Kashmir who are in other states are worried about their folks back home with no means to communicate with them.

There has been a report of a death of a 17 year old in Kashmir who was chased by the military on a bridge and he jumped in the river and died as he did not to swim.

There has been assurances from the government that the curfew may be eased again on the occasion of Eid Al Adha so that the people of Kashmir can observe their festival.

Today CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury and CPI leader D Raja have been detained at the Srinagar airport and were not allowed to enter into the city even though the curfew has been relaxed.
