People’s Party for Humanitarianism condole demise of renowned scholar Prof Nisar Ahmed, remember his contribution to education

Manitha Neya Makkal Katchi (Peoples Party For Humanitarianism) of Tamil Nadu has released a press statement announcing the sudden demise of renowned Prof Nisar Ahmed of University of Madras.

The letter by its President Dr M. H. Jawahirullah speaks of the Prof’s endeavor towards education and development. Prof Nisar Ahmed, the former Head of Department of Arabic, Urdu and Persian at the University of Madras has been associated with it for a career spanning decades. During his 30 years with the academic institution, Prof Ahmed had produced innumerable books including and guided more than 100 scholars through their PhD. He is also credited to have written a commentary on the Quran.

President Jawahirullah has mentioned in the release that Prof Ahmed had not only been a visionary but also his close friend “who worked tirelessly worked for the recognition of Arabic language as an important subject of study in many colleges and universities globally.” He further expressed his anguish and disheartening with the Prof’s death when he came to know from Late Prof Ahmed’s son that in his final moments, he had inquired about Jawahirullah’s health condition.

In the statement, the President has praised Prof Ahmed’s lifelong service and dedication to education, mentioning that he had been closely assisting other Islamic scholars (Aalim) who were educated in Madrasas. To help them cope with career prospects, Prof Ahmed had started the ‘Afzal Ul Ulema Diploma’, hence giving them a chance to learn, teach and explore international career opportunities.

The President of Manitha Neya Makkal Katchi, in the statement, said that the Prof’s students are involved in educating thousands of people in several parts of the world and the legacy of his generosity would live on for future generations.
