Raipur : Two daughters have handed over their father’s body to a Raipur-based Homeopathy medical college for research, an official said Wednesday.
Sabram Kujur, 70, died late Tuesday on the outskirts of capital Raipur after a prolonged heart ailment.
Minutes after his death was confirmed, his two daughters approached a social organisation and donated the body to the private Maharana Pratap Homeopathic Medical College here.
College secretary P. Jayaramani told newspersons Wednesday that Kujur resided in village Uparwara. He had no son and his two daughters were taking care of him by working as daily labourers.
“In line with Kujur’s wishes, his daughters – Afriti and Kormi – approached a social organisation, Badhte Kadam, Tuesday and the body was donated to our college for research work,” said Jayaramani.
An official said this act by Kujur’s daughters will reduce hesitation among others and more bodies will be donated in the state. Even government-run medical colleges rarely get bodies for research for anatomy department students.
