Kuwait : Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior urged on Friday all violators of residency regulations to take advantage of the Amiri initiative granting them a 45-day ultimatum to leave the country without being forced to pay fines.
Under instructions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Al-Khalid Al-Sabah issued the ultimatum starting from September 1, 2008, for the illegal expatriates to leave the country and reserve their right to return in the future.
“Violators of residency regulations who fail to be tuned to the immigration rules will be liable to arrest and forced deportation without departure seal,” director of the ministry’s deportation department Col. Ahmad Al-Rajibah said.
“In such a case the violators will not be allowed to return to Kuwait in the future,” he warned in a press release here.
“If any violator is banned from leaving the country for involvement in any financial or criminal charges, they should provide the documents of residency applications to the relevant immigration departments during the period of the ultimatum,” Al-Rajibah pointed out.
“If the sponsor of an illegal expatriate withhold the latter’s passports for any reason, the latter must get a new passport from their respective embassies and immigration documents and tune their situations with the regulations as soon as possible. “They have to apply for residency or leaving the country to avoid tougher punishment when they are arrested,” he underscored.
“When the violators get new passports they can apply for departure at the immigration departments during the remaining time of the ultimatum.
“If such violators have to wait to settle some businesses or financial affairs, they can appoint other persons to settle their affairs or get their immigration documents by proxy after they leave the country.
“The ministry is working out brochures in various languages to explain the conditions of the ultimatum in order to help illegal expatriates be tuned with the regulations.
“The Ministry of Interior will pursue its educational campaign in various state departments, shopping centers and locations of expatriate communities to press home the ultimatum, he added.
