New Delhi : As many as 44 people were killed in rain-related incidents Friday in Sitapur district in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the Press Trust of India reported Saturday.
Incessant rains led to a number of house and wall collapse incidents claiming 44 lives, including four members of a family, official sources said.
The rains have also disrupted vehicular traffic as well as power and communication lines as trees, hoardings and poles have been uprooted, they said.
Uttar Pradesh this year has already received 25 percent more rainfall than normal, the weather office said.
