Indian Navy spokesman Nirad Sinha said Friday that the USS Ronald Reagan, participating for the first time in those exercises called Malabar, will arrive in the area on Saturday

Malabar 2008 is the ninth edition of this war maneuver that began in 1992.

The previous was last April 2007 and included the Japanese Navy.

After considering complex exercises Sinha said that Indo-US naval cooperation shows relation between two big and responsible maritime powers.

Progressive parties and other political forces have severely condemned this military program for undermining the traditional non-alignment foreign policy of India.
