“The EU is invited and asked to put an end to the increase of the Israeli extremism against the Palestinian people,” said Ibraheem Abu al-Najja, a Fatah leader in the Gaza Strip.

“The EU must also work towards establishing a Palestinian statehood alongside Israel,” he said, warning that the “extremist” Israeli settlers continue to expand their settlements in the West Bank and annexing more Palestinian land to those blocks.

Abu al-Najja also slammed the closure Israel imposes on the Gaza Strip since June 2007 in a bid to isolate Islamic Hamas movement which controls the territory.

Earlier on Tuesday, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad also warned that the two-state solution, which Israel and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) negotiate about, was in danger due to the continuation of the settlement activities.
