London : The Muslim Council of Britain in its congratulatory message to the President-elect Barack Obama has expressed hope that he would tackle the world problems with all his dedication and strong will.
In his message, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Bari, Secretary-General, MCB, said the election of Senator Obama has been hugely symbolic and will no doubt be a cornerstone of inspiration for people well beyond the shores of the USA.
“The campaign has been followed by many people who have no vote in your great democracy. Nevertheless, they have witnessed democracy in action and will no doubt be enthused to enhance democracy and voter participation in their own countries.”
Commenting on the election, Dr Bari added: “Senator Obama will no doubt be a role model for many people, particularly for young British Muslims. He demonstrates the art of the possible and restores faith in our democratic ideals. I wish him well as he proceeds to fix the damage done in our international system and in the Muslim world following the misadventure in Iraq.”
Meanwhile, Justice Foundation Kashmir Centre London, in its message of felicitations was hopeful that the newly elected 44th US President will play an important role in finding routes towards peace and justice in the different parts of the world.
The Centre Director Prof.Nazir Ahmed Shawl said Obama’s desire for a peaceful South Asia has created hope in the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the eventual resolution of the conflict which is an irritant in cordial relations between Pakistan and India.
