Tel Aviv allowed for the second time in three weeks the passing of trucks with essential supplies for 1.5 million Palestinian inhabitants, including goods the UN has delivered to 750,000 refugees.

The country allowed the entry of cars with fuel to the Nahal Oz terminal, the only electrical plant existing in the enclave, the lack of which has provoked systematic power cuts since the worsening of the blockade 20 days ago.

The measure was registered after the UN termed collective punishment the closure of all border crossings with the territory controled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and the possibility of facing a humanitarian catastrophe.

Pressure against the government of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert also came from the European Union and even Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, despite his government contribution to that country’s blockade with the closure of the Rafah crossing.

In his Sunday speech at the Egyptian Parliament, Mubarak said publicly, for the first time, he was willing to create an independent Palestinian State in Jerusalem, and deplored the Palestinian suffering here.

Khaled Meshaal, leader of the Hamas group settled in Syria, termed Sunday disgraceful the silence of the Arab and Islamic states, faced with the tragedy caused by the Israelis.
