Hyderabad : The Indian Engineering Congress Friday began at the National Institute of Technology, Warangal, with various global leaders urging the engineers to apply environmental friendly methods to solve the rising global warming concerns.
They said engineers continue to face the task of accelerating overall development without causing damage to the environment.
Over 500 global leaders, including E. Sreedharan, managing director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, and Subramaniam Ramdorai, CEO and managing director of Tata Consultancy Services, will participate in the four-day congress.
Talks will be held on land management, modern agriculture practices, urbanisation, energy management biodiversity, threats to biodiversity due to industrialisation degradation and atmospheric pollution, among others.
Director of National Institute of Technology Y.V. Rao said a change in perception was required by engineers to seriously consider creating a social and ecological balance, usage of eco-responsive technologies and commitment to create nature friendly environment.
