United Nations : UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to express “disappointment” that violence in continuing in Gaza despite ceasefire resolution 1860, his spokesperson Michele Montas said late Friday.
She said ban is communicating the same message to Hamas through the “proper channels.” She sad Ban is obviously “concerned that violence is continuing despite yesterday’s resolution. “He hopes it will come to stop very soon. The Security Council has the responsibility for maintaining international peace and security and its decisions should be respected.” She added that Ban is continuing his contacts with political leaders in the region and the international community, in hopes of ensuring that resolution 1860 is implemented without delay and is urging all states, especially those in the region, to encourage progress in this regard.
