New Zealand goalkeeper Kyle Pontifex stood like a wall between the posts to thwart the German attack and was adjudged Man of the Match. Both teams have two points each after three games.

World champions Germany paid heavily for missing out on three penalty corners that came their way while New Zealand were off-target twice.

New Zealand came close to break the deadlock in the 60th minute of the game when striker Lloyd Stephenson reverse-hit struck the pole.

Both teams got penalty corner apiece in the dying minute of the game but failed to find the elusive winner.
