New Delhi : Unfazed by the desertion of some of its allies, the Congress Friday said that government formation was a numbers game and the party was confident of forging alliances after the Lok Sabha elections.
“Government formation is a game of numbers. After the elections, we will have post-poll alliances,” senior Congress leader Anand Sharma told reporters in reply to a question on the party’s strategy would be to reach the magical figure of 272 needed to form the government after losing its major alliance partners and supporters.
The Congress on Thursday suffered two major blows with the PMK walking away to join the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, and the Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Lok Janshakti Party teaming up in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
