Kuala Lumpur : Prime Minister of Thailand Abhisit Vejjajiva called Saturday for expansion of Tehran-Bangkok relations due to Iran’s influential role in the region.
In a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Thailand Majid Bizmark, the Thai prime minister called for promotion of Iran-Thailand economic and cultural ties in particular.
Meanwhile, the Iranian diplomat briefed Vejjajiva on existing bilateral relations in the fields of energy, tourism, agriculture and small industries.
The two officials also discussed the latest situation of Tehran-Bangkok investments in the fields of petrochemical projects as well as oil and gas activities.
Iran-Thailand relations began 400 years ago when an Iranian named Sheikh Ahmad Qomi emigrated to Thailand and became prime minister of the country later proving his level of capabilities.
