Beijing; The Great Wall of chocolate and handicrafts of candy are some of the attractions at the “World Chocolate Wonderland” set up to woo tourists at Beijing’s National Stadium which hosted the Olympics Games last year.
Tourists will be able to enjoy the chocolate theme park at the Olympic Green, or the Bird’s Nest opening Friday, as part of Beijing’s efforts to utilise the Olympic venue after the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, said Ma Yinghui, deputy director of Chaoyang District Tourism Bureau.
Beijing is bringing in new elements to the Olympic venue to prevent them from running down as people will turn their eyes to the coming London Olympics, Ma said.
The 20,000-square-metre “World Chocolate Wonderland” will showcase nearly 1,000 handicrafts of chocolate and candy, including replicas of 560 terra cotta warriors and a 10-metre Great Wall, said Zheng Yaoting, who runs the show.
People could make their own chocolate artefacts with the help of professionals, Xinhua quoted her as saying.
Costing more than $10 million, the show consumed 80 tonnes of chocolate. The exhibition will last till April 10.
