Bhopal: The Ministry of Personnel Public Grievances and Pension, Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India has selected the state of Madhya Pradesh under the ‘SEVOTTAM’project (Service Delivery Excellence Project).
Financially sponsored by the Department For International Development (DFID) of British Government, state’s Public Grievances Redressal Department has been selected to carry out pilot run of the project.
For the pilot run of the ‘SEVOTTAM Project’ a core group has been constituted in the state. Headed by Additional Chief Secretary,Public Grievances Redressal Department, core group includes Secretary/Additional Secretary, General Administration Department and Director, R.C.V.P. Naronha Academy of Administration as members. The Deputy Secretary, Public Grievances Redressal Department has been nominated as Member-Secretary of the core group. He has also been appointed as nodal officer.
It may be mentioned that the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India has developed a model for conceptualising and implementing the scheme ‘SEVOTTAM’ for recognising excellence in service delivery in government organisations. The scheme has been tailor made for government organisations with specific focus on citizen interface and expectations and is stated for implementation in the ministries in a phased manner. The model synthesises the ground realities in India with international best practices and is based on proper implementation of citizen’s charters, effectiveness of public grievances redress mechanism and status of service delivery enablers from the citizen’s perspective and efforts made by the department in improving their own capability to deliver.
