In an interaction with media person on 28th of August, he said Jamat-e-Islami has repeatedly emphasized that it will make sure that no mishap takes place, after the court delivers its verdict next month. He called upon the media to highlight Indian Muslims’ stand on this issue.
Expressing his anguish, he said; “but I don’t expect the mainstream media to highlight this because the norm is that it looks only for a bad fatwa and not the real stories which is quite unfortunate.”
Interacting with the journalists present on the occasion, senior journalist, Jawed Naqvi called upon all the Muslim organizations including the Jamat-e-Islami, to go beyond the issues related to Muslims and highlight the issues which affect the oppressed class in general.
“It’s high time that Muslim organizations should also understand the pain of the larger oppressed class, like Dalits and raise their issues across the country,” he said.
This is how a larger forum of exploited and marginalized can be created, and a joint struggle for justice and equality can be fought by the Indian Muslims and Dalits. It will boost up the struggle of the Indian Muslims to get justice, Mr. Naqvi added.
Tarique Hussain Rizwi of Day Times, pointed out that blaming the mainstream media for not covering Muslim issues won’t do any thing; instead the community should also do some introspection on its role in encouraging education, which is the key to every kind of progress. The community and its think tank should train its youngsters to be journalists, he added.
