New Delhi: The Popular Front of India (PFI) has expressed hope that the interim stay order of Supreme Court in Babri Masjid title suit should not cause indefinite delay in pronouncement of the judgment by the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court.
The SC Division Bench comprising Justice R. V. Raveendran and Justice HL Gokhle yesterday decided to defer the verdict that was to come on September 24, by a week. The bench, however, was divided on the issue of delaying the title judgment. While Justice R. V. Raveendran is not in the favour of delaying the verdict, Justice HL Gokhle favoured the deferment arguing that it would give one more chance to the parties to think over an out of court solution for the dispute.
.
Urging the court not to delay the verdict, PFI Chairman E. M. Abdul Rahman said: “It is in the interest of the long pending ownership issue and the nation at large that the judgment is pronounced at the earliest. Even then both the parties will be having an option to appeal before the Supreme Court.”
He appealed to all sections of the people to wait for judicial settlement and maintain peace and harmony in the country at any cost.
