Moscow : India’s Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Moscow Thursday to take part in a session of the inter-governmental commission with Prime Minister Alexander Zubkov.
Mukherjee recalled President Vladimir Putin’s visit to New Dehli in January, and hailed the past 60 years of “stable” and “friendly” relations between the two countries, Interfax reported.
“Russia plays a special role among India’s strategic partners. I’m waiting with impatience for my meeting with Vice-Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov within the inter-governmental commission to discuss issues of mutual interest,” he was quoted by Interfax as saying.
Mukherjee is co-chairman of the inter-governmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.
The session will focus on a range of Russian-Indian relations in different sectors such as raw material, tourism, metallurgy and energy, according to the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
The sides are expected to sign a protocol after the session on future priorities for bilateral cooperation, Interfax reported.
