Chennai, Malaysia : Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin ended his five-day visit to India today after revitalizing age-old bilateral ties.
His goodwill visit to Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai included high-level meetings with Indian political leaders and top industrialists.
A slew of issues ranging from sea piracy, two-way diplomatic cooperation in international matters to commercial tie-up surfaced during his visit.
In Chennai, he took time off to watch the World Squash Championship (team event) where five-time World Champion Datuk Nicol David was playing.
Malaysia lost to Australia for third and fourth placing, in a 2-1 scoreline, despite Nicol’s victory in the event held at the Express Avenue shopping mall in the city.
In the two-man-one-woman team event, Malaysia’s top men’s player Mohd Asyraf lost to Cameron Pilley 4-11,5-11, 4-11 while Kamran Khan was defeated by Aaron Frankcomb 6-11,6-11, 3-11
Muhyiddin’s last event in his week-long tour was the Malaysian cultural show hosted in conjunction with the twining of Chennai and Kuala Lumpur as sister cities.
He departs to Kuala Lumpur later tonight along with his delegation of senior cabinet ministers and government officials.
