New Delhi : Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee and AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa Friday praised the Election Commission for conducting free and fair elections in five states.
“I applaud the Election Commission for their magnificent conduct of the election,” Mukherjee said, saying the polling in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala took place in an “impartial manner”.
In Chennai, Jayalalitha also complimented the election panel.
“I wish to place on record my appreciation of the Election Commission for the free and fair elections” in Tamil Nadu,” she said.
Acting on the instructions of the Election Commission, police seized huge amounts of black money in Tamil Nadu that were meant to bribe the voters.
