Islamabad : Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said a comprehensive national policy and strategy on the war against terrorism needs to be formulated in accordance with the geo-strategic environment.
Talking to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Gilani said Pakistan was committed to working in unison with its neighbours and international partners for the elimination of terrorism and the establishment of peace.
He said that Pakistan’s efforts in the political and military domain for combating terrorism needs recognition at the international level, Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
He added that socio-economic development of underdeveloped regions and the economic empowerment of the poor and vulnerable had to be merged into a joint strategy against terrorism.
Pakistan has faced a string of terror strikes, specially after the May 2 killing of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden by US commandos in Abbottabad.
