“The inquiry was lodged against unknown people in allegedly getting favouritism during appointment of counsellors and advisors of Organising Committee,” the official said.

The preliminary enquiry was lodged Sep 15 as the agency had received several complaints and references from the Central Vigilance Commission on likely violation of norms in the appointments.

The complainants alleged involvement of then OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi, who is now behind bars, and his close aides for favouritism in the recruitment process.

The investigative agency alleged that during 2003 to 2009, many people close of Kalmadi were nominated to the OC without having any expertise in their jobs.

The organising body had a strength of about 2,100 officials engaged for various jobs. Now, there are around 100 officials left.

The Commonwealth Games were held Oct 3-14, 2010.
