Doctor couple among train fire victims

Bhopal : A doctor couple from Madya Pradesh’s Gwalior city, on their way to new jobs, were among the victims of the fire in the Howrah-Dehradun Express Tuesday. While the husband was severely injured, the wife died.

Anumita Singh Gour, 26, and her husband, Neeraj Singh Gour were going to Dehradun where both had got new jobs, said Neeraj’s father, Gopal Singh.

Anumita, a dentist, was working in Kalyani district of West Bengal, while her husband was an assistant professor in Gajra Raja Medical College, Gwalior.

The fire erupted in the B1 three-tier air-conditioned compartment of the Howrah-Dehradun Express around 2.30 a.m., and in no time swept through the packed coach causing panic. The train was passing through Jharkhand’s Giridih district at the time.

Out of the seven killed, Anumita was one of the four whose bodies had been identified by Tuesday evening. Neeraj is being treated in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district.

The couple, who married in 2009, did not have any children.
