Rohtak (Haryana) : Veteran freedom fighter and the only surviving member of India’s erstwhile Constituent Assembly, Ranbir Singh Hooda, was Monday conferred with an honorary doctorate of literature degree (D.Lit) by Kurukshetra University at a special function here.
Hooda, who is the father of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, was conferred with the honorary degree on his 93rd birthday by Kurukshetra University Vice Chancellor R.P. Hooda.
Speaking on the occasion, an emotional Haryana chief minister said that it was a special day for him not only because his father was being honoured on his birthday but also because it was on this day (Nov 26) that the constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of which his father was the youngest member.
Ranbir Singh’s wife Hardai Devi was also present at the function.
