Mexico City : At least eight people were killed and 20 injured when a bus plunged into a 200-metre ravine in the northwestern Mexican state of Nayarit, Spanish news agency EFE reported Wednesday.
According to local authorities, the accident occurred Monday night on the road linking the towns of Compostela and Chapalilla, when a car suddenly changed its direction and hit the bus. The driver of the bus lost control and the vehicle went off the highway.
The 40-year-old man who was driving the car admitted that he was at fault, police said.
The driver of the bus was among the injured who were taken to a nearby hospital.
