Shirodkar was speaking to reporters at the state Congress headquarters late Monday.

“Wherever the BJP lands up they create trouble for the mining industry and the state. Look at Karnataka. Look at what they have done with Karnataka,” Shirodkar said, referring to the virtual indictment of BJP Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and other state cabinet ministers in the mining scam exposed by former Lokayukta, Santosh Hegde.

“Till the elections, the mining industry was working fine. (Goa Chief Minister Manohar) Parrikar has now tarnished the image of mining in Goa as well as Goa worldwide,” Shirodkar said.

The Justice M.B. Shah commission report, which was tabled in parliament in September, had exposed a Rs.35,000 crore mining scam in Goa involving politicians, bureaucrats and mining companies.
