New Delhi: Aiming at speedy execution of rail projects, the government Thursday approved a policy to facilitate private participation in boosting industrial development and enhancing freight traffic.
The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure (CCI), headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh approved the proposal from the railway ministry, said sources.
The policy would provide the much-needed impetus to building the critical links missing in the railway network and evacuation from ports, mines, big industrial units and plants, said a release.
It will also give a boost to industrial development of the country and significantly enhance freight traffic, it said.
