In a statement, DMK’s parliamentary leader T.R. Baalu said the party’s chief whip and PAC member, T.K.S.Elangovan has written to PAC chairman Murali Manohar Joshi to convene a special meeting of the accounts committee following the charges made by R.P.Singh, the retired chief auditor of the CAG.

According to the statement, the retired auditor had said that “..PAC had suggested a method to calculate the loss incurred in the allocation of 2G spectrum and the CAG had arrived at the loss figure as suggested by the PAC, which is headed by Dr.M.M. Joshi, a senior BJP leader.”

“Besides, the DMK party has also submitted a notice to the Lok Sabha Secretariat to discuss the above matter under Rule 193,” the statement added.

DMK MP and former telecom minister A. Raja is the prime accused and Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi was an accused in the 2G case being tried in a special Central Bureau of Investigation court in Delhi.

Recently retired CAG director general R.P. Singh told the media that he only pegged the 2G loss at Rs.37,000 crore, but when the final report was brought to him for signing, it had the Rs.1.76 trillion as the loss figure.

Singh claimed that Joshi had spoken to the CAG officials a day before the CAG report was made public, implying that the BJP leader influenced the final report on the loss figure.
