Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan told Lok Sabha that the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) in a recent report has stated that the benefits of CNG (compressed natural gas) transition are not visible due to growth in diesel vehicles.

“Diesel vehicles are known to emit higher smoke particles and nitrogen oxides than petrol-fuelled cars,” Natarajan said quoting the EPCA report.

She listed out number of measures the government has taken to curb vehicular pollution.
