According to a report published by the BBC Hindi Service, the incident occurred in Gaurkhurd Village, located 40 kms from the District Headquarters. The victim’s mother, Jamuna Devi, told BBC, “On the day of the incident, my son was near the house when two people came to pick him up for work in the fields. When he refused, they forcibly took him away.”
She further added, “When he was found not working as per instructions, a man pushed my son towards the sugarcane machine and his entire arm was chopped off.”
After getting her son treated, when Devi approached the Maharajganj Police Station, the SHO refused to file a complaint against the accused. After even the higher officials in Jaunpur also refused to act in the matter, Devi approached Renu Singh, a local social activist, who ensured that a complaint is filed in this regard.
Maharajganj SHO told BBC that a case against all accused, who are absconding, has been filed.
