Gaza : At least 9 Palestinians died Tuesday in separate attacks of the Israeli Army, one air bombing in southern Gaza of a Hamas Islamic Movement police station in which 7 people died and 5 were wounded.
An Israeli military spokesman confirmed this was in response to rockets fired at Israeli territory this morning in Sderot, where no victims were reported.
The second attack, with two victims, was an early morning confrontation east of Rafat.
In the last 24 hours the Israeli Army has intensified attacks on Gaza, after two members of the Palestinian resistance penetrated Israeli territory yesterday, one of them a suicide bomber at a Dimona Mall that killed an elderly woman and wounded 10 other people.
In response to that suicide attack, important members of the Kadima Party of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert urged the government to restart assassinations of the main leaders of the Hamas Movement.
Tzachi Hanegbi, chairman of the legislature’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, stated that Israel should change its policy and not allow the leaders of Hamas to enjoy immunity, adding “current Hamas leaders to this list,” Hanegbi stated, recalling the 2004 murders of movement officials.
