Mumbai : Politicians, business leaders and Bollywood celebrities queued up to bless and wish Amit Deshmukh – the eldest son of Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh – and Aditi Ghorpade who got married here Thursday afternoon.
Amit, whose brother Ritiesh Deshmukh is a popular actor, tied the knot with Aditi at a suburban deluxe hotel.
Among the dignitaries present were Maharashtra Governor S.M. Krishna, Bihar Governor R.S. Gavai, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and his Manipur counterpart Okram Singh.
Central ministers Vilas Muttemwar, S. Jaipal Reddy, Suryakanta Patil, Subodh Kant Sahay and Prithviraj Chauhan rubbed shoulders with Bollywood legends Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu, Rani Mukherjee, Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sanjay Khan, Zarine Khan and Asha Bhosale.
Top industrialists including Mukesh Ambani, Kumaramangalam Birla, R.N. Dhoot, Sunil Mittal and Subhash Goyal also attended the ceremonies.
The surprise guests who made heads turn included anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray.
State Congress chief Prabha Rau and city party chief Gurudas Kamat were present.
Maharashtra’s Director-General of Police P.S. Pasricha, whose term ends Friday, was present too, and so were Deputy Chief Minister R.R. Patil, other Maharashtra ministers and legislators, bureaucrats and Congress party workers.
