New Delhi: Government has made a provision of Rs. 30 crores for an affordable housing plan called ‘Aam Aadmi Aawas.’ Rajya Sabha was informed today that this plan will be directed towards the poorer sections of the society with emphasis on Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Minorities.
This information was provided by the Minister of State for Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, Kumari Selja in the Rajya Sabha today, in a written reply to a question by Jesudasu Seelam & Gireesh Kumar Sanghi. She said that the National Housing Bank which is a Subsidiary of Reserve Bank of India had prepared a Concept Note for construction of Low Cost houses.
2007-08 budget includes Rs. 30 crores for this programme. This money will be spent in subsidizing the interest of the housing loans for the urban poor. The scheme will improve affordability and accessibility of loans from financial institutions.
