Aligarh: In a move to provide more madrasa graduates with an opportunity to get higher education, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has expedited its efforts to recognize degrees of more madrasas.
In this connection, a meeting, chaired by vice chancellor Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis, was held for recognizing and accrediting the syllabi offered by madrasas. The meeting was attended by dean of the Department of Theology Prof. Syed Farman Husain, dean of the Department of Sciences Prof. Mohammad Murtaza Khan, Prof. Saood Alam Qasimi and Prof. Syed Ahsan. At the end of the meeting, it was decided to form a committee to review the syllabi and educational standard of madrasas in some districts of Uttar Pradesh including Basti, Siddarth Nagar, Azamgarh and Mau.
Prof. Syed Farman Husain, Prof. Saood Alam Qasimi and Prof. Kafeel Ahmad Qasimi, have been nominated members of the committee. So far AMU has accredited 45 madrasas in the country and allowed their students to get admission in various courses of the university. These madrasas belong to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
