Haryana Urdu Academy to begin distance courses in Urdu

    Panipat: Haryana Urdu Academy has decided to offer Urdu medium distance education courses in order to promote Urdu language and literature. The Academy will prepare text books from class I to class V for certificate and diploma courses.

    Secretary of Haryana Urdu Academy Kasmiri Lal Zakir said the Academy would also get quality literature for children prepared by best authors, poets and fiction writers. This decision was taken in a meeting of annual award committee of the Academy that was presided over by Haryana Education Minister Mange Ram Gupta.

    Zakir also said students getting training for Urdu teaching at the teacher training school in Firozpur, Mewat would be handed over appointment letters in a special function to be held by Academy in May.

    For the year 2007-08, the annual award committee of the Academy has decided to honour Mewat’s Hakim Ajmal Khan with Hali Award. Khan will be presented Rs one lac, a medal and a certificate by the Academy. Delhi’s Rafat Sarosh will be awarded with Mahender Singh Bedi Social-Cultural Award and Dr. Sanjeeda Zaidi with Sabt Datt Award for her services in social development of women.
