Doha : Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Rashid Mohammad Rashid has said here that he was encouraged over the outcome of talks he held with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem Al-Thani.
Speaking at a news conference at the conclusion of a two-day visit Sunday, Rashid said he conveyed a verbal message from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa on ways of further boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation, in addition to regional issues of common concern.
Rashid said the Emir of Qatar was very keen on activating economic investments with Egypt.
Qatar is also keen on increasing the number of Egyptian workforce, currently totalling 100,000 people.
The Emir of Qatar is convinced of the need to improve the multi-faceted relations with Egypt, which is witnessing wide-scale economic and social reforms, said Rashid.
The Egyptian minister said that discussions with the Qatari officials focused on attracting Qatari investors to Egypt.
