Wang Yi said that 60 percent of the UN Security Council’s agenda topics are coming from Africa, and two thirds of the peace maintenance operations are being carried out in African countries.

Wang spoke in the debate of the high UN organization dedicated to the conflicts in Africa and the collaboration between the UN and the African Union (AU).

The 21st Century should be a witness of the end of disturbances and poverty in Africa, the Chinese official pointed out and he pled because the moment of total control arrives for Africans of their own destine and the achievement of peace, stability and development.

To obtain those objectives, combined efforts of the international community and Africa and a closer association between UN and AU, he pointed out.

The Chinese diplomat reiterated the backup of China to forge a stable association between UN and AU and favor that the United Nations carry out a multi-purpose cooperation with that regional organization in many sectors.

That cooperation, Wang added, should cover the three pillars of security, development and human rights, and be reached through a process of trust, prevention of conflicts, maintenance and consolidation of peace.
