Beijing : India’s Vijay Kumar shot an excellent score of 580 to finish eighth in the 25m rapid fire pistol event at the International Sport Shooting Federation World Cup underway here.
Vijay, a 2007 Arjuna awardee, failed to qualify for Saturday’s final held among top six shooters barely by a point.
He shot 286 in the first stage and followed it up with a superb 294 in the second, which also included a perfect series of 100.
The other Indian in this event Pemba Tamang also shot well to finish 13th with a score of 576 (287+289).
Alifirenko Sergei of Russia won the gold in this event with a score of 786.7 (586+200.7).
