Islambad : Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf reiterated his opposition to the military offensives in the Pakistani territory by the US forces stationed in Afghanistan, during a meeting with British Foreign Minister David Miliband on Monday.
Despite of supporting the US war policy in its so-called international crusade against terrorism, Musharraf rejects that the foreign contingent fighting against the Taliban insurgency in the neighbouring nation carries out offensives in his territory.
The head of state said in his conversation with Miliband that Pakistani forces are the only troops authorized to operate in the Western Frontier Province.
However, Musharraf insisted that he will continue backing the so-called war against terrorism.
According to The Post daily, US military commanders have been urging to enlarge the war area of operation and include attacks against tribal zones in the Pakistani western region bordering with Pakistan.
Musharraf himself gave “limited permission” to the CIA to stage air strikes with no unmanned airplanes against Arab targets in the tribal region.
