Kuwait : National Assembly candidate in the third constituency, Saleh Al-Mulla said MPs of the former dissolved parliament abused the constitutional tools in their grillings of ministers in ways that did not serve the interests of the homeland.
In a seminar at the opening of his campaign headquarters Saturday night, entitled “A new vision for a more beautiful Kuwait”, he said that using constitutional tools to achieve tribal, sectarian, and personal gains compromised the true meaning and spirit of the process.
He added, the previous parliament’s battles with the government and grillings did not help priority issues, but actually impeded the reform and development process in the country.
Expressing the disappointment of the Kuwaiti people, especially many youth who lost faith in democracy, he said the people want a parliament that practices its power in developing the country and serving the people within the framework of a clear program.
Al-Mulla highlighted, on the other hand, that people want a government that adopts a national project and future plan that serves the people’s needs and life style and one which is also capable of doing what it deems best, regardless of pressure by MPs.
He also expressed hopes that voters would choose wisely, and put the best interest of the state above all else.
The third constituency includes 15 residential areas with 58,674 voters, 33, 056 of them are women.
