The official said “violations such as posting material on vehicles, at state institutions, on private property, at unlicensed kiosks, and anywhere other than a candidate’s campaign headquarters would mean legal action or a fine of KD 1,000-3,000, virtue of law 4/2008.” Chairman of the committee’s Secretariat Mohammad Al-Musawi meanwhile said 232 campaign headquarters were licensed in the state’s six governorates.

He also noted some 25,000 ads and other campaign materials were removed since start of campaigning. Hawalli Governorate accounted for 30 percent of the violations, Al-Jahraa for 20 percent, and then Farwaniya, Asema, Ahmadi, and Mubarak Al-Kabeer, he specified.

The official stressed the committee would maintain respect and cooperation throughout its interaction with both candidates and voters and urged all to cooperate to uphold the law, for the best interest of the state.
