According to new orders, it is compulsory for madrasas to submit the utilization report for year 2007-2008 to the government by this 30th April. Till 2007-2008, financial assistance worth Rs 53 crore was given to 360 madrasas but in 2008-2009, the government has almost doubled the amount, increasing it to Rs 102 crore.

Releasing the first installment of Rs 50 crore out of this financial assistance, salaries of the employees of madrasas have also been sanctioned for current period till June. The government has also placed the condition that no amount out of this sum should be used for paying any dues of previous year without prior permission of Minorities Welfare Directorate.

In its letter circulated to district minority welfare officers, the Directorate has specified that the salaries of only those teachers and employees will be payable out of this grant who have been appointed legally. District minorities’ welfare officers will be held responsible for any irregularities. According to new rulings, salaries cannot be paid from new grants until utilization of previous grants get verified.
