Milan : Midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has quelled rumours of his possible transfer from AC Milan to Bayern Munich, pledging to end his career at the Italian powerhouse.
Gattuso met Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani Monday night to discuss alleged tensions with team-mates and received the full support from Galliani and coach Carlo Ancelotti, who also attended the meeting.
“I talked for five minutes about my problems, but I will remain here for three more years and will close my career as a red-black. I don’t think to play much longer,” La Gazzetta dello Sport Tuesday quoted the 30-year-old international as saying.
“We did not talk about money,” said Gattuso, who played nine seasons with the Devils and earns 4 million euros (6 million dollars) per season. “Galliani told me that if I wanted to leave Milan I had to jump out of the window.”
Galliani said he cannot imagine Milan without Gattuso: “Our goal for the next season is the (Serie A) scudetto … Now we’ll look at the situation with the coach. Our will is to create a competitive Milan with seven or eight new players.”
Milan won the Champions League and the Club World Cup in 2007, but were eliminated from the continental tournament this year and had to settle for a UEFA Cup berth as they finished fifth in the Serie A.
