OIC Chief urges Sudanese to stop hostilities

Jeddah : The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has expressed his deep concern over the renewed fighting between the Sudanese government forces and the SPLA in the area of Abyei. “The OIC has been monitoring closely the recent military escalation,” the secretary general said, while appealing to both the parties’ signatories to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) to exercise maximum restraint and put an immediate stop to the hostilities.

The OIC Chief called on them to continue their constructive dialogue in order to settle their differences over the disputed area in a peaceful manner in the interest of the Sudanese people.
